Today we booked our wedding reception! I know we are a bit ahead of schedule but we got a really great deal! Its an exciting relief to have this under our belt. It is a 4 acre piece of land on the beach with mountains in the back ground. Personally, i think this sounds so sweet. The reception hall is attched to a sweet inn that was built in the 1940's. It has stayed in the same family since its opening day. The women i spoke to on the phone said we could turn it into our own little wedding village. Basically, we will be the only people on the premise. I enjoy the idea of such personal accomedation. It is in the city of Yachats OR. Here are some pictures I borrowed from their facebook page. I will have more information on the Inn for our guests on our wedding website as we get closer to the event. I have a more ideas now, but I am very satisfied with this location. It shoud make for a memorable day. Thursday, June 28, 2012

Day 488
Here are some of the signs Danny and I have decided to make for display. It will be fun to go to the craft store and figure out how we want to dress up these words. Its hard to choose quotes and sayings considering there are so many wonderful ones to choose from. Emerson is one of my favorites so Im so glad to have found an idea to stem from on one of his quotations. Once we make them I will post pictures. This is going to be our next craft. Any other favorites?

Day 489
So I guess I should add a spoiler alert message. I am doing this in blog form to get my ideas out so I wont forget them. Also so I don't feel the need to tell the whole world, which happens with me. So if you would like to be surprised at the wedding probably don't read any further. If you don't mind seeing the pieces before the whole puzzle then I invite you to look and comment.
Truthfully I am not a fan of all those wedding websites. Although they do have some really great ideas, they are also very pushy. Perhaps we are just more laid back about our wedding than most people are. They say that girls have their weddings planned from the time they are young. I don't remember doing anything like that(except I knew there would be a lot of dancing)! When I was a young girl my step mom(a rather intuitive woman) told me that she could see me (i guess in the future) getting married twice. There went my hope for the fairytale ending. I am a child of divorce and even through the ugly side of growing up with split families and households, I still believe in love. Thinking that I didn't deserve love takes me back to issues I struggle with due to past abuse. I guess I could never see myself actually being completely immersed in it. So, when Danny and I talked about getting married I was so excited. He is my best friend and I would marry him any day and everyday for the rest of my life. After we got engaged and it became "wedding planning" time I found myself lost and confused! What traditions do we follow? Who do we invite? When is the right time? Who pays? Who makes up the bridal party? When do we pick the outfits? Where should it be? etc.
Considering we are both rather shy, we want a small and intimate celebration. I love hearing other peoples POSITIVE input. There has already been so much drama surrounding the idea of our wedding, that I just want to elope. To spare other peoples feelings we have decided to press forward with the wedding planning and keep reminding ourselves to breath and this is supposed to be what we want. When I think of it that way, I get excited all over again!
PS. Danny is the most incredible person. Truthfully, he told me when we started that he wanted me to have the wedding of my dreams. Which meant I had to start actually dreaming of a wedding! Through all the nonsense he has stuck by me. He is involved and gives me his opinion which is always thoughtful. We are a team and it truly feels wonderful to feel supported. I <3 Danny!
Ok enough with the back story lets get to some ideas!!
We are getting married in the fall on the beach! I guess this will just be scatter brained posting but that's how I work.
Here is my ideas for center pieces:

We take wine bottles and clean them up then spray paint them with chalkboard paint and stick them directly in the middle of the table. We will write the table number on the wine bottle in chalk. Sticking out of the top of the bottle will be a card with pictures of Danny and I at the corresponding age to the table number (table 5 would display pictures of us at age 5). Surrounding the wine bottle creation will be glass holders covered in lace. Possibly painted our wedding colors. Here are some pictures to illustrate what I am thinking.

Day 490
Today Danny bought me a Calligraphy set! I am pretty excited about it considering I am always trying to write down random names and dates for the fun of it. This way I can address the invitations and save the dates myself. It has taken me most of the afternoon but I think i have started to get the hang of it.

We also got the second part of my ring today. It had to be custom made since we wanted something specific with black diamonds. Originally, I wanted black diamonds in my ring but we couldn't find one that seemed right. However, the ring Danny picked out has a combination of black diamonds and regular diamonds. Then I had to have something with the black diamonds. We were able to find someone to make the custom piece and it turned out pretty well! We love them more and more evertime we look at them, so happy to have something original and symbolic(two people-diamonds, one love-black diamonds).

Day 491
Danny had one of his wisdom teeth removed today. It only took about 25 minutes, I was shocked. So we are at home all weekend just hanging out. After looking for several days, we picked/bought our save the dates today. Got to love Etsy! We are going to send them on the one year mark to give people enough warning. They are simple and sweet. We are hoping the shop will make us matching invitations. It would be nice if all of our stationary lined up.

Day 500
Well I have a lot of ideas and questions about this whole wedding thing and I have 500 days to figure it out!
First of all, 500 days seems like a long time. I'm afraid that its going to feel even longer. In order to make time pass by faster Danny and I have decided to plan extra special dates every hundred days. For date 500 we went to Cedars, a lovely restaurant by the river. We had a good time getting all dressed up to go to a fancy dinner. We ordered wine and sipped it as the sun set. It was a wonderful evening. When we were done we came home and went for our nightly bike ride.

Date 500 was a success! We will have date 400 in September and we have already started thinking of ideas. Any suggestions?
